“Every fog hides a witness.”
After a dockworker disappears from a fog-covered port city on the Adriatic coast, Inspector Renzo Falchi uncovers a network of smuggling, political corruption, and coded radio transmissions. As witnesses begin dying under mysterious circumstances, Falchi becomes obsessed with a woman tied to every victim. The deeper he digs, the less certain he becomes about who is manipulating whom.

This is the kind of thriller that trusts silence more than dialogue. The harbor feels alive, damp, and dangerous in every frame. I couldn't stop thinking about the ending drive through the rain.
Slow but rewarding
by retro_reels
The pacing is definitely from another era, so modern audiences may struggle a bit. Still, the atmosphere is incredible and the performances carry the quieter stretches. Worth sticking with.
Too cryptic for me

I appreciate the craftsmanship but honestly got lost halfway through. Characters speak in riddles and the plot becomes unnecessarily tangled. Great cinematography though.
A forgotten gem
by noir_addict88
It feels halfway between Italian giallo and political noir. Franco Guidi gives a wonderfully exhausted performance that anchors the paranoia. The score alone deserves recognition.
Beautifully cold
by cinephile_helena
There is an emotional distance to the entire film that works against it sometimes. I admired it more than I loved it. Still, some scenes are unforgettable.
