“Eighteen streets. One night. No corners left.”
A Hong Kong police inspector hunts a triad enforcer known only by the eighteen streets that mark the perimeter of his territory in Mongkok. As the inspector's investigation tightens, the enforcer takes a young restaurant owner hostage — and the two men discover they were boyhood neighbors on streets that no longer exist. The final chase covers all eighteen.

5 reviewsUnderrated 1990s HK gem
by hk_action_devotee
Wong's choreography of the rain-soaked alley shootout deserves to be on every action-cinema syllabus. Ronnie Lam plays his cop tired and credible. The emotional beats actually land between the gunfire.
Tight, lean, gorgeous
by wuxia_warrior
Ninety-eight minutes is exactly the right runtime. No subplot overstays. The neon-soaked nighttime cinematography of Mongkok looks like a postcard from a city that doesn't fully exist anymore.
Familiar but well-executed
by modern_action_fan
Hits all the HK 90s action beats — police-vs-triad, childhood-connection twist, rooftop chase, restaurant shootout. Nothing new, but executed with real craft. Worth the watch for fans of the era.
Stylish and grounded
by casual_classics
More restrained than its bigger contemporaries — fewer setpieces, more character work. The hostage middle act is genuinely tense. Carmen Yip is wasted in an underwritten role.
A document of vanished Mongkok
by neon_film_archivist
Half the streets shown here have since been redeveloped beyond recognition. The film accidentally became an urban history record. Also it's a great thriller. Two for one.
