“Every monsoon brings home one letter at a time.”

A young Mumbai post office clerk discovers a forgotten bundle of love letters in the bottom of an undelivered mail bin, all written by the same man over three monsoons in the 1970s. Determined to find both the writer and the woman he wrote to, she enlists the help of a cynical newspaper columnist. As the monsoon arrives and the city floods, the search begins to mirror their own slowly-becoming love story.

A return to form for Bhattacharya

by filmi_devotee

Two and a half hours that feel like ninety minutes. The musical numbers are integrated rather than interrupting and Devika Rao is a star turn. The rooftop sequence in the second monsoon will be played on television for decades.

Charming if slightly overlong

by bollywood_basics

Beautiful production design, gorgeous songs, two leads with real chemistry. Could lose fifteen minutes and be perfect. As it stands, very good.

More than I expected

by international_lens

Came in expecting a fluffy musical and got something with real emotional thoughtfulness underneath the spectacle. The treatment of the older generation's regret is unusually tender for the genre.

Too long, too many songs

by song_skipper

Six musical numbers is a lot. Some of them stop the story dead. The actual romance is sweet but I kept reaching for the remote.

Mumbai has never looked better

by monsoon_film_lover

Every shot of the city in the rain is a love letter in itself. The production used real monsoon weather and you can feel it. Devika Rao and Rohan Khurana are the rom-com pairing the decade was waiting for.
