This is exactly the kind of charming 90s romance Hollywood forgot how to make. The leads have easy chemistry and the city feels warm and lived in. I smiled the entire time.
Cute but predictable

You know where it's going within twenty minutes, but that's part of the appeal. Ben Calder carries the comedy bits really well. Nice rainy-day watch.
Corny overload

Every supporting character talks like a greeting card. The soundtrack practically screams at you to feel nostalgic. I rolled my eyes more than once.
Underrated chemistry

Claire Donnelly should have become a much bigger star after this. There's a natural awkwardness between the leads that makes the romance believable. Also loved the bookstore setting.
A snapshot of the decade

The oversized coats, jazz-pop soundtrack, and newspaper office scenes are catnip for 90s fans. It doesn't reinvent the genre, but it executes everything confidently. Sometimes that's enough.
